ANNA LUIGI
Mezzo Soprano
"Par une scénographie qui lui est propre, l'artiste s'est permis une lente déambulation au coeur de l'église, chantant a cappella, moment de grande intensité, donnant à nouveau la possibilité d'apprécier la tessiture de sa voix (...).Envoûtement du public à son comble et standing ovation. "

Biography
Anna Luigi has begun her carrier as a mezzo since January 2023. Reconnecting with her first love for baroque music, she took part in a masterclass and concert at William Christie’s Fondation Les Arts Florissants, where she studied in depth the role of Charpentier’s Médée. She performed in May 2023 at the Museo Baggatti Valsecchi in Milan the role of Griselda alongside Roberta Invernizzi, who strongly supported her ambitions in the baroque repertoire. In June 2023, she performed her first Carmen with the North Wales Opera Studio, where she was noticed for her artistic qualities and encouraged by the conductor John Moore. She was recently a finalist at the Competition Corsica Lirica. She also sang the role of Athamas during a production of Händel's Semele at the Cockpit Theatre of London, in March 2024.
Anna is also a composer and is eager to develop her own staging and concert programs; she has co-founded during summer 2024 her own music duet with the pianist Raphaël Goldman working with the "Association Aether". The duo has made his debut in french churches and atypical places (Albas, Belaye, Les Junies, Lyon...), and was praised with warm critics from the newspaper La Depêche.
Born on the 9th October 1995 in a french-american family of artists, Anna started her music studies early in her childhood with piano lessons. She continued studying piano and voice later in Paris at the conservatoire Nadia and Lily Boulanger. As she was noticed for her mature wide range, she started vocal technique lessons with Elsa Maurus (Christa Ludwig's former student) at age 17. She also graduated from the Cours Florent drama school at age 21.
In 2017, Anna got accepted at the Guildhall School and moved in London. As she learned there a more solid technique and explored her ambiguous tessitura, she signed her first contract for the role of Marzelline in 2019. She obtained on that same year her Diploma of Higher Education in Music.
As Covid struck, she moved back to Paris and took the opportunity of being closer to home to take a break and to work on her painting. She curated her own art exhibition (EROS, March 2022). Her work was noticed and was shown in Aix-Provence (Les oiseaux de la cité perdue vol.2, September 2022), at Galerie Gaia in Paris (October 2022) and in the Uxval Gochez galery in Barcelona (EROS AND THANATOS, January 2023).
Since age 25, Anna has been working with great support from her new teachers, Gaëlle Meyer (La Scala, Milano), and Chantal Santon-Jeffery (Paris). She was also lucky to work in October 2021 with the great Ludovic Tézier and his wife Cassandre Berthon during a private lesson. Anna is also regularly coached by her long time mentor Sylvie Leroy (repetiteur at Opera and CNSMD de Lyon).
She has also refined her repertoire thanks to institutional programs such as the National Opera Studio short course, Canto Workshop (Sharon Mohar and Liora Maurer from the Metropolitan Opera), Mario da Silva's EOrquesta company in London, and the Fondation Les Arts Florissants (with Sophie Daneman from the Royal Academy of Music). She is preparing for multiple auditions and competitions in order to boost her career.
